On 28 May this year, the Polish Economic Congress took place at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw. ACTION S.A., together with its EcoAction recycling machine brand, was a partner of the event. The event attended by over 2,000 people, including the management boards of the largest companies, representatives from the world of politics, experts and international guests. This year’s edition of the congress was held under the motto “Time for Advantage”, which today represents the challenges facing Poland in terms of economic competitiveness, health, energy and security.
It is being decided today which countries and which economies will set the direction for development in the coming years, and which will remain nothing more than participants in others’ strategies. Poland has the potential, the expertise and the businesses ready to compete in an increasingly demanding market. However, an advantage does not build itself – it requires investment, courage, cooperation and decisions taken at the right moment,” said Joanna Makowiecka-Gatza, President of Pracodawcy RP, during the opening of the Congress.
The Congress debates took place simultaneously across six thematic paths: Geoeconomics, Ambition, Resilience, Energy, People and the Future. Sławomir Harazin, Vice-President of the Management Board of ACTION S.A., took part in one of the debates entitled ‘MADE IN POLAND: Stories of companies that changed the rules of the game’ within the Ambition track.
During the entire day of the conference, EcoAction reverse vending machines were available to participants and enjoyed great interest. Guests were not only keen to use the machines to claim their deposit back onto a card for returned bottles, but also asked about the innovative EcoAction EasyCube technology – the process of compacting collected packaging into a cube the size of a large microwave, which can hold as many as 2,000 items of packaging.
I am delighted to have had the opportunity to showcase our machines at the Polish Economic Congress. This shows that business in our country needs ambitious changes and is ready for them. However, this requires support from the state. That is why it is good that, at events such as this, entrepreneurs, together with representatives of the state administration, can set the direction for Poland’s development so that it achieves sustainable competitive advantages. One such advantage within the deposit-refund system could be savings in the broadest sense, which are delivered by the innovative raw material baling technology in our recycling machines,” emphasises Sławomir Harazin, Vice President of the Management Board of ACTION S.A.
The special guest at the event was David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016. In his opening address to the congress, he emphasised the important role played today by Poland, which is currently the fastest-growing major country in Europe.
The congress concluded with a political debate in which politicians representing the main parliamentary groups highlighted differences in their approaches to the role of the state and taxation, whilst agreeing on the need to invest in strategic areas for the country, such as security, energy, infrastructure and innovation.
The Polish Economic Congress was hosted by the organisation Pracodawcy RP and the Positive Ideas Foundation.
